About
CREATE | CONTRIBUTE | INSPIRE
Maki Landscape is founded on the principles of connecting people to the earth around them. Our passion is the landscape: the sand, silt, and clay that squishes between our toes; the waft of penny royal and sage after a summer rain; and the tule fog that hangs on the horizon driving up the east side. We create spaces that resonate.
Landscape architecture is really a humbling profession. We have been lucky enough to be able to spend the last couple decades honing skills that enable us to create, enhance, and protect places that inspire. Our work has brought us to parks as epic as Yosemite, as common as your neighborhood playground, and as personal and intimate as your residential garden. We own the responsibility to create meaningful, powerful spaces that shape people’s lives.
As landscape architects, we know that when we’ve done our job well, we may never be acknowledged. More often than not, if we’ve done our job well, we won’t be, but people have been challenged and spaces have been reimagined so that both thrive. In doing this work, we get to enjoy, move, interact, play, and learn from the natural world all around us. This is the point. This bridge between humans and nature is where the magic happens. We get to build the next generation of stewards and nurture a great appreciation for all that is natural and wild.
It is really a gift to be able to create. It is a gift to be able to contribute. It is a gift to be able to inspire.
